In 2014, about 150 street artists from some 30 countries painted around 250 murals on the white walls of Erriadh, the village of the Ghriba synagogue. Many are still there, faded or repainted, between the houses and the lanes.
- History
- Erriadh, once called Hara Seghira, is one of the oldest Jewish villages on the island.
- Customs
- People live behind these walls: keep quiet and ask before photographing anyone.
- Food
- Combine with the Ghriba, a few minutes away, and a brik in Houmt Souk.
- Best time
- All year. Morning light is best for the murals.
The project was led by Itinerrance, a Paris street-art gallery.
