After Lake Ichkeul, Sebkhet Kelbia is Tunisia’s second wetland and has been a Ramsar site since 2007. This vast salt lake in the Sahel plain draws waterbirds, and its water level follows the seasons and the rains.

History
The lake has been an important stop for migrating birds between Europe and Africa.
Customs
Bring binoculars and keep a distance from the birds. Tracks around the lake can be flooded after rain.
Food
Eat in Enfidha or Sousse, which are not far.
Best time
November to March for the birds.
A Ramsar site is a wetland recognised as important at international level under a treaty signed in 1971.
