Near Ghomrassen, north of Tataouine, Ksar Hadada is a fortified granary of vaulted rooms, the "ghorfas", stacked around courtyards. Part of it was used as the slave quarters of Mos Espa in "The Phantom Menace".
- History
- Ksour were built by Berber communities to store harvests safely. Hadada later served as a hotel.
- Customs
- Walk carefully on the outer stairs: they have no rails.
- Food
- Try the "kaak" biscuits of Ghomrassen.
- Best time
- October to April.
Each ghorfa belonged to one family and held its grain, oil and dates, sometimes for years.
