A few kilometres west of Bizerte, a rocky headland marks the northernmost point of the African continent. A short walk leads to a simple monument above the sea.
- History
- The headland was long a landmark for sailors entering the Strait of Sicily.
- Customs
- The track can be rough after rain. Wear proper shoes on the rocks.
- Food
- Have lunch in Bizerte’s old port.
- Best time
- All year except the windiest winter days. Beautiful at sunset.
The cape is also called Ras ben Sakka. Africa’s southern tip, Cape Agulhas, is about 8,000 km away.
